Flower pin cushion a little TUT !!!

My Mom used to make these, so guess I will keep the tradition going...
It is very easy...
Hope that you enjoy... SMILES

There are three layers of petals to make the flower, the first layer is 7 petals, I used a green,
second layer is for the flower petals, I used a orange dot fabric, there are 6 of those, then the last layer of petals I used a multi color, 6 petals there also... the base is cardboard with a piece of batting, covered with the green fabric, then the center I used the green again....

Make a template for the two circles , you will need to cut
1 base in cardboard and batting
7 petals for the leaves
6 petals for the flower
6 more petals for the flowers
1 center
1 cover for the base a half inch bigger than the circle
glue gun
sewing box with needle and thread, etc.... seam allowance is included...
I used double thread to baste and gather the flower petals.... no breaking on me!!!

my fabric choices, everything is cut out and ready to go...

basted the base fabric, placed the batting on the bottom of the cardboard and ...

pull up on the thread to gather very tightly, tie off and it's ready !!!

Done, now for the petals....

six petals for the first row

Fold the petals in half, then in half again,

thread your needle with double thread and bast the bottom of the petal, pull on the thread to gather, back stitch a few times to secure and continue on to the next petal...

Six petals on a string, now connect them to make a circle...

Use your glue gun and put glue on the basting stitches on the base,

I go twice around so that it will be really secure...

place the circle of petals on the base with the glue... press down and all

will stay in place...

back side... all is good... now for the second row of petals....

Second row of petals ready to be glued down...

go around the first row of petals with your glue gun

place the circle of petals so that the leaves will show from under....

third row of petals... ready to be put on as the other row... glue good and

place the petals so that the second row will show...

Ready for the center... baste the center of the flower, get the stuffing ready and

stuff as much as you can...

Pull the thread tight and make a knot so that it will be

nice and tight...  Take your glue gun and go around the basting stitches on the circle, plus put some glue in the center... I almost fill it up with the hot glue,

put the center of the flower in place, push down, and find a weight to put on top for a few minutes so that it will hold tight....

about five minutes later, take the weight off, and guess what....

Yes!!!! here is  your flower pin cushion!!!!

ENJOY
