What happens when there is just just enought fabric for the backing???

I have been working on this little quilt, as I was getting down to the last border, guess what?????
Not enough fabric for the backing. 
Here is what I did to solve the problem, but ..................
Here I am as far up as possible!!

THE BOTTOM OF THE QUILT

THE RED SNAPPERS AND THE QUILT TOP GOING OVER THEM!!!!


Pulled out the red snappers on the bottom and lucky, there was just enough fabric so not to take it off the frame and sew a strip on.
I pinned the backing fabric to the leaders praying that there was enough to be able to sew, and wow!!!there was, but I kept my fingers crossed all the time so not to hit the pins as I did the final quilting!!!


Here she is, all done!!!

A little close up, and my prayers were answered!!!
This little patch was featured in  BURDA a few months ago with the pattern and was designed in Belgium

That was very lucky! Twice I have run out of backing and had to unload, sew a strip on and then reload to finish. I measure every quilt now to make sure there is extra backing.
Your quilting looks great on this quilt!

I love that pattern!!! I tried to find that on the internet the first time you posted it. Like how you quilted it. What a problem solver you are....:)

Vacation time is over !!

    Today I can say "thirty years in waiting"  is finished I had made a queen size quilt with these fabrics and I missed it so that I had started another but put it away for a rainy day.    So happy that I found the box many years later and was able to get it finished at last!! A nine patch or simple irish chain, so off I went with my box, and this is what it turned into.... I am so pleased, and it is big enought to use on the dining room table. I have a few squares left, maybe enought to make a place setting or something. The quilting design is from My Creative Stitches  Monday Patch Vacation time is over and we are back to our art!! Two of the gals have finished their giant wedding ring, one is ready to be quiltied and another is alread to go on the table.  Quilting in lines, it turned out really nice. Another double wedding ring but traditional  still lots of pieces to sew, but it is going to be beautiful ! Someone is starting her birds, ravens...
