Suzan's Patchwork Garden

December is here and is almost over. Birthdays, Christmas lunch with the girls, Christmas dinner with family  and finishing up some UPP, which are unfinished patchwork projects!! Well, it started on December 1st with a  real Christmas tree.   The first in many years, guess the fake one was to fake this year and too much of a job to get  it down, unpacked and set up.   We had a great time finding just the perfect one   WOW!! they are expensive!! But, remember... we only live once.... SO !  OH Christmas Tree!! Getting closer to Christmas and  It's my birthday !!  Celebrating...  lunch with the kids, big and small  Of course,  it wouldn't be Christmas without cookies!! This year cookie jars went out to all my special friends...  The butcher and all of his employees,  the paper girl, my two special florists and of course another special lady!!!...

How time flies Just yesterday it was Halloween and now!! Thanksgiving is over I did decorate the dining room a little for the fall holidays,  first time in a few years.   Guess this will have to go soon and I will start decorating for the Christmas season !! My oldies but goodies, all hand quilted...  YES!!  Quilted by hand,   I didn't have an APQS longarm  a few or many years ago. I enjoyed quilting by hand and when I went home to Vermont I would get Mom on one side of the quilt and me on the other and we would quilt in the afternoon for an hour or so and just talk.  Sometimes it was a game...to see how much we could quilt in an hour , then reward ourselves with a cup of tea and a cookie :-)  or two!!    It's finished binding is done and the quilt is washed and dried. Trying to get some Christmas things done... so far so good, I have the 18 poinsettia Place settings  and today I am doing the center of the table.   It will be a long table runner in ...taffeta Interesting to work with but I would not make it a habit... Love my cotton quilting fabric. Of course quilting with my APQS Millie  and  Aurifil 40wt Mako Cotton I went light green thread with an off white taffeta I will post a picture when the binding is done :-)   along with the place settings.
